Padgham Designs is the workshop of Carl Padgham, a British silversmith based in Kent.

Having worked in the silver trade designing and producing since the early 1980s, his career has seen him work on a diverse range of contemporary pieces for a worldwide clientele. In particular he has developed a specialised interest in producing bespoke large-scale designs for clients, ranging from models and interiors pieces for private collections to trophies for sporting events. These projects are the focus of Padgham Designs, the next chapter in Carl’s silversmithing and design career.

Career History:

After first studying at Medway College of Design, in 1984 he started up a workshop as a partnership, Padgham and Putland Ltd, designing and producing a large range of contemporary work. Over this period, he undertook many prestigious commissions, including designing and producing the Ceremonial Mace for Imperial College London, which won the gold award from the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council in 2010.

Other highlights include commissions for the luxury Italian brand Bulgari, including a collection of forty pieces presented to Pope Jean Paul II in 2000, as a part of the Vatican’s project to mark the millennium in Rome. And more recently the design of a pair of silver ballroom chandeliers commissioned for the first Bulgari Hotel in London’s Knightsbridge. Further projects have involved working with David Gill Gallery on Garouste & Bonetti designs for interiors.
